Long story short, yeah, Tubi TV is alright. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a top tier streaming service by any stretch of the imagination, but it’s still worth adding to whatever device you use to stream TV and movies. Here’s three reasons I recommend Tubi TV.
1. It’s Free.
Most of us aren’t made of money and all these streaming services can really add up, but Tubi TV won’t be the one breaking the bank. In fact, Tubi TV is completely free, and legal (their website makes a big deal about that part). It is however ad supported.
So if you just can’t with commercials, I suppose Tubi TV isn’t for you, but I’m a-okay sitting through a few commercials for the cost. I’ve watched a handful of movies and TV shows on the site and don’t recall the commercials being any more annoying or intrusive than any other service like Hulu, Paramount+, the CW Seed, or even live TV.
2. It’s Easy to Watch Anywhere.
Remember when HBO Max wasn’t going to be available on Roku devices or how Prime Video wasn’t available on Apple TVs for like ever? Yeah there’s no compatibility issues here. Tubi TV seems to play nice with everyone, it can be streamed online, on a mobile phone or tablet via its iOS or Android app, or through any number of devices and smart TVs.
Currently, Tubi TV is available on:
- Roku
- Amazon Fire TV Stick
- Chromecast
- Apple TV
- Xbox
- PS4
- And More
And while you do have the option to register for an account, Tubi TV doesn’t actually require you to sign up or login to watch anything. In my book, not having one more password to remember is always a win. It’s user interface doesn’t suck either.
3. It Boasts an Eclectic Selection of Movies and TV Shows.
The best way I can describe Tubi TV’s catalog of movies and television shows is by equating it to channel surfing through basic cable on the weekends. You won’t exactly find new releases, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to watch. Essentially you’ll discover one of two things: that movie or tv show you love and will watch every time it’s on or that thing you heard about but never got around to watching before so why not now.
Here’s some examples of what I mean:
- Shrek Ever After
- Cast Away
- Thelma & Louis
- Little Giants
- Degrassi: The Next Generation
- Jennifer’s Body
- Paddington
- Step Up
- Battlestar Galactica
- Seal Team Six
- Die Hard
- Etc…
Of course that’s just a super small sampling of titles that caught my eye. Viewers can browse from their extensive genre lists which include: action, anime, classics, comedy, crime, documentary, docuseries, drama, faith, family, foreign language, home & garden, horror, indie, LGBTQIA+, lifestyle, martial arts, music & concerts, reality TV, romance, sci-fi & fantasy, sports, stand up comedy, sword & sorcery, telenovelas, thrillers, and westerns.
Tubi TV even has some eye-catching curated collections like Award Winners & Nominees, Bollywood Dreams, Supporting AAPI Voices, Highly Rated on Rotten Tomatoes, and even Not on Netflix for good measure.
They also appear to have some deals with specific networks like A&E, Fox, and Lifetime along with news programs and a robust section for kids. So yeah, all-in-all I’d say Tubi TV is pretty good.
