The TV season is nearly year-round these days… But since I don’t expect you to watch TV live, I mean we’ve all got places to be and commercials to avoid, here’s a handy guide of where and when to find new episodes from your favorite TV shows. Scroll down for network-by-network information. [Updated: February 2016]
Network: The CW
Availability: 8 Days After Broadcast for Non-Subscribers
What Else You Need to Know: If you don’t have a paid subscription to Hulu, you’ll have to wait 8 days. However, US viewers can see new episodes the very next day on cwtv.com. Just a heads up, the original 5-year streaming deal made with Hulu in 2011 is in its final year, and rumor has it The CW might look to create its own service or jump on the CBS All Access bandwagon, if either happens their shows would most likely not be available on Hulu anymore.
Network: ABC
Availability: 8 Days or Authenticate Cable Subscription
Where: abc.go.com & hulu.com
What Else You Need to Know: As of Jan. 6th 2014, ABC made things more difficult for online viewers, especially those who’ve cut the cord. Either wait 8 days for new episodes, sign up for Hulu Plus, or verify that you are a cable subscriber for immediate viewing. ABC.com and Hulu.com will prompt you to login via your cable provider.
Network: CBS
Availability: Next Day
Where: cbs.com & cbs.com/all-access
What Else You Need to Know: Some older CBS programs are now available on Hulu.com. And Hulu Plus members can find some new stuff too. If you’ve done away with cable, you can subscribe to CBS’s stand-alone streaming service – CBS All Access. Select markets can even watch live TV.
Network: NBC
Availability: Next Day
What Else You Need to Know: Enjoy! For some shows, full seasons are available to select pay-TV subscribers as well. Read about that here.
Network: FOX
Availability: 8 Days or Authenticate Cable Subscription
What Else You Need to Know: Most FOX shows are available 8-days later, unless you are a paying subscriber to one of a handful of cable/satellite provides and then you can watch new episodes the next day on Hulu.com if you’ve authenticated your account.
Network: Cable
Availability: ???
Where: It depends…
What Else You Need to Know: Availability for cable series is incredibly hit or miss so you can try the network’s site or http://www.hulu.com/tv/networks
There are of course always exceptions to the rule, so if you still aren’t finding new episodes of whatever show you watch I recommend going here: http://www.hulu.com/support/forum/20052272
And if you are a paying cable customer don’t forget about OnDemand. Availability varies by provider but it’s another option, as is the DVR.
