Shopping for the TV fan in your life? If you’re looking to go beyond the typical TV on DVD set or Netflix subscription, here’s a few gift ideas to consider.
Promotional Posters
Websites like MoviePosterShop.com and Amazon are chalked full of reprints of promotional posters for a vast array of popular TV shows. 11×17 is the most common size and are often quite affordable to boot. Take it to a local craft store to get it framed and matted and you’ve got yourself a pretty classy gift.
TV Scripts
When your friend or family member already owns all the DVDs for their favorite TV show, you can always get them a reproduction of the scripts for their favorite episodes. You can find those on eBay and other sites like ScriptCity.com. Sometimes you can find originals on eBay, but they’re generally more expensive.
Retro & Classic DVD Sets
Many claim that we’re in a new golden age of television, and who am I to disagree, but that doesn’t mean we should discount all that came before it. If the TV fan in your life has exhausted most of Netflix’s streaming options why not introduce them to the shows that helped shape today’s TV landscape. Some recommendations I’ve come across include: Bewitched, Cheers, The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Monkees, Moonlighting, and The Twilight Zone. Amazon is probably your best place to find classic TV shows on DVD.
TV-Themed Home Goods
What better way to show your love for TV than with actual TV-themed products like pillows and drinkware?
TV Marathon Survival Kit
This one is a bit more DIY, but if you’re shopping for a TV addict this could be a creative way to support their habit. Grab a basket or fun container of some kind and fill it with their favorite snacks, drinks, maybe some local take-out menus, spare batteries (for the TV remote), and a throw blanket. I’m sure they’ll appreciate the personalized gift and the provisions. After all, you can’t properly marathon without being comfortable.
